Tonawanda Coke

Our team’s analysis of a brownfield redevelopment work plan and subsequent development of an ASTM E1527-compliant Environmental Site Assessment revealed that the plan missed key byproduct and spill areas at the 100-year old coking facility in western New York. We determined that additional conditions at series of related Superfund Sites and a least one new related site also needed to be considered. After we testified in a legislative hearing and submitted our work during the public comment period, regulators required many of our suggestions to be incorporated into the plans drafted by the responsible parties. Legislators passed a resolution to form a Working Group and we are now participating in site management on regular basis.
